For ingredient quantities and step to step instrutions, take a look at the recipe card below.
How to make
- Make the base: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the yogurt, light mayonnaise, and Parmesan cheese until smooth and creamy.
- Add your flavorings: Stir in the Dijon mustard, anchovy paste, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic and a dash of lemon juice until fully combined.
- Season the dressing: Taste the dressing and season with a little salt and pepper if needed.
- Add some herbs: If wanted, stir in some chopped herbs.
- Serve: Drizzle over your favorite salad or use as a dip for veggies.
Substitutions
- Dairy-Free: You can make a dairy free version of this recipe by using a dairy-free yogurt alternative and a teaspoon of nutritional yeast in place of the Parmesan.
- Vegan: Substitute the yogurt with a plant-based yogurt. Swap out the Parmesan for a vegan cheese alternative. Omit the anchovy paste & Worcestershire Sauce. Season well and make sure to recalculate the Points.
Variations
- Spicy Caesar Dressing: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce for a spicy kick.
- Anchovy-Free: If you do not like anchovies (which are found in traditional Caesar dressing), don't add the anchovy paste. Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce also contains anchovy so you can omit that too although it does add so much flavour!
Top Tips
- Make Ahead: This Low Point Caesar Dressing can be made in advance and can be stored in the fridge for up to five days. I always let the dressing sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes (or often overnight) to allow the flavors to fully develop.
- Consistency: Some people prefer a thinner dressing, some like a thicker dressing. Greek yogurt tends to be thicker & creamier than regular natural yogurt so use that for a thicker dressing. If you want to use Greek yogurt but find the dressing is too thick, you can add a teaspoon or two of water and mix well.
- Adjust seasonings to Taste: Always taste the dressing before adding the salt and pepper. The anchovy paste and Worcestershire sauce are both salty so you may find you don't need to add any additional salt.
- For a more intense flavor: roast the garlic before crushing it and adding it to the dressing
FAQ
Which yogurt is the best to use?
- Greek yogurt is thicker and creamier than regular yogurt, which is ideal for this dressing. If you use regular yogurt the dressing will be much runnier but still delicious.
Is this dressing gluten-free?
- Yes, as long as you use gluten-free Worcestershire sauce and the mustard is gluten free, then this dressing is naturally gluten-free.
How long does this dressing last in the fridge?
- When stored in an airtight container, this dressing will last 4 - 5 days in the refrigerator.
Can I use anchovy fillets rather than anchovy paste?
- Yes! I love using fresh anchovy fillets in this recipe. Just use one or two anchovy fillets and mash them to a creamy consistency before stirring them into the dressing.
Can I use this as a dip?
- Absolutely! It makes a great dip for raw veggies or low Point crackers.
How many Points is this dressing on Weight Watchers?
- This recipe is designed to be low in Points. The whole recipe works out at 2 Points on the WW Points plan and each serving works out at 1 Point. If you make any changes to the ingredients, you will need to recalculate the Points.
